From Milan take the "A1" (Bologna - Florence) motorway and take the Firenze Nord exit, then follow the road signs to the centre.
From Genoa, take the "A12" motorway to Viareggio, take the "A11" motorway towards Florence and take the Firenze Nord exit, then follow the road signs to the centre.
Finally, from Rome take the "A1" (Rome - Milan) motorway and take the Firenze Sud exit, then follow the road signs to the centre.
The Florence "Amerigo Vespucci" (Peretola) airport is approximately four kilometres from the city centre. The airport is well connected to the centre by means of taxi, shuttle and bus services.
The Pisa "Galileo Galilei" airport is eighty kilometres from Florence and is connected to it by train (one every half an hour approximately) and shuttle bus service.
Florence is also a very important railway hub and is easy to reach from the main cities in the north. It is also located one and a half hours away from Rome, three hours from Naples, 1 hour and 45 minutes from Milan and 37 minutes from Bologna.
High-speed trains (called Frecciarossa and Frecciargento) connect Florence to several other cities in Italy. The main railway stations to arrive in or leave from are: Santa Maria Novella, Campo di Marte, Firenze Rifredi.
